Welcome to the DW Healing Arts Be Well series of wellness tips for January 2016. Each day I will highlight a card from my Balance Resource Cards decks. The wellness resources will help you bring balance to your body, mind and spirit if used on a regular basis. Take a moment right now, and practice today's wellness tip as you read this. Grab your journal, turn off your phone, find a quiet place without interruptions and set a timer for 20 or 30 minutes. This is time you are investing in yourself. You are worth it. Give yourself permission to balance your life. May you Be Well! Love, Deanna |
Inner reflection, thorough research and the reaction of others can help you make good choices that impact your health.
Start your own wellness support group with a selection of friends who can meet regularly for mutual support and accountability. A good book to start with is Mind Over Medicine by Lissa Rankin. Her website has a free downloadable self-healing kit which is an excellent companion to her book.
You can benefit from meeting regularly with a trusted soul friend or anam cara (Irish/Celtic tradition), who provides regular support and helpful feedback for personal growth. Choose this trusted person wisely by trusting your intuition. Confidentiality is important in building trust. You may want to start a book group or have spiritual discussions with like-minded people in order to find someone who would be interested in this mutual relationship. Ask for Divine guidance in finding this person. Share openly with each other, listen deeply and avoid giving advice. Respect confidentiality. Another option is to meet with a Spiritual Director to provide accountability on your spiritual journey.
Relationships change through the years and you may discover that you need to find a new trusted friend as you reach a different stage in life. This is a normal part of the ebb and flow of life. As needs change, so do relationships, so honor and cherish the many people who have helped you grow and be the person you are today.
