Welcome to the DW Healing Arts Be Well series of wellness tips for January 2016. Each day I will highlight a card from my Balance Resource Cards decks. The wellness resources will help you bring balance to your body, mind and spirit if used on a regular basis.
Take a moment right now, and practice today's wellness tip as you read this. Grab your journal, turn off your phone, find a quiet place without interruptions and set a timer for 20 or 30 minutes. This is time you are investing in yourself. You are worth it.
Give yourself permission to balance your life.
May you Be Well! Love, Deanna
Wake up your brain while holding various lobes/sections of your brain with one hand, and alternately tapping the top (crown) of the head and then chest (breastbone) for a breath cycle each. Start by holding the back of your head with your left hand, where the neck meets the skull, which is the occipital lobe. Use the right hand to gently tap the top of your head (tap, tap, tap, breathe) then the chest (tap, tap, tap, breathe). Move the left hand to the parietal love, which is between the neck and the top of the head. Use your right hand to gently tap the head (tap, tap, tap, breathe) then the chest (tap, tap, tap, breathe). Repeat this tapping process for the top of the head (upper portion of the parital lobe), your forehead (frontal lobe) and the sides of your head above the ears (temporal lobe). This is a powerful tool that can be used to reset your brain function when it is functioning in a mild state of shock from sympathetic nervous system overload. The key to tapping is using gentle pressure in a rhythmic manner and imagine lighting up your brain with each tap.
Another simple form of tapping is to give yourself a hug and repeat positive affirmations while tapping right, left, right, left, right, left on your upper arms. I am well. (tap R, tap L, tap R, tap L, tap R, tap L) I am healthy. (tap R, tap L, tap R, tap L, tap R, tap L) I am the beloved. (tap R, tap L, tap R, tap L, tap R, tap L)
Experiment with tapping and see what you notice.
