I also enjoy being creative when I am alone. I joined several art-related Facebook groups which inspire me with new ideas. I take photos as a spiritual practice. I sometimes add inspirational quotes to these photos. I am converting several old Ten Thousand Villages embroidered purses into prayer flags for my sun room. I enjoy my word-of-the-year journal with various types of artwork.
I have several friends who are artists. At least once a month, I try to spend a day doing some kind of artwork with one or more of these friends. This month, I made SoulCollage® cards with Tracy. Last month I painted delightful textured pages in my One Little Word® journal with Lindy. A few months ago, several friends and I painted silk scarves.
Art feeds my soul. I surround myself with beautiful handmade art. I get grumpy when I don't have time to be creative.
We can have a stress response to good things and not-so-good things in our lives. Joyful events such as weddings, the birth of a baby or landing our first job can be exciting. Loosing a job, crashing a car or going to a funeral can make us free overwhelmed, anxious or depressed. While these things cause different reactions, they all cause a stress response in our body.
A number of people received my Balance Resource Cards as gifts. Others purchased them for their personal use, but in most cases, the cards sit unopened on a shelf. People are just too busy for self care.
One friend recently had a wake-up call, when she received news that there was abnormal tissue in her breast. She decided to make some major lifestyle changes to prevent the tissue from progressing into cancer. She started using the Balance Resource Cards at home and work. And she is seeing some very positive results.
